Breast Cancer Prevention and Education Materials

Jennifer Why McCrackenbeads

Through the proceeds we received from the Jennifer Why McCracken Memorial Golf Outings, the association offers breast cancer awareness presentations.  During these presentations, ladies are educated about the importance of having regular mammograms, are given shower cards demonstrating the correct way to conduct self-breast examinations, and are given a strand of beads.  The strand of beads represents various sizes of lumps ranging from a very small bead which can be detected by a mammogram to a large bead which is how big a lump can get by the time you find it accidentally.  The ladies are also given an opportunity to practice breast examinations on breast forms.  Jennifer Why McCracken was 30 years old when she passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer.  Jennifer’s family wants to educate young women about the importance of self breast examinations and having routine mammograms.
